The Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore has announced that his party is tabling a motion of no confidence in the Government.

The Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore has announced that his party is tabling a motion of no confidence in the Government.

Speaking at Leinster House this afternoon, Mr Gilmore said the longer the Government clings to power, the longer a national recovery will be postponed.

He said it is "make your mind up" time for the Green Party, Independents and backbenchers who have been critical of the Government.

Mr Gilmore called on them to support a motion which would bring to an end to what he described as "a dysfunctional, demoralised and discredited administration".

Mr Gilmore said: "There is nobody running the country."

The motion is expected to be tabled next week and Deputy Gilmore says he is absolutely convinced the coalition can be defeated.
