900 children, 160 pensioners 'are homeless'

Almost 1,000 children are now homeless in the greater Dublin area, according to Cardinal and Archbishop of Dublin Desmond Connell.

Almost 1,000 children are now homeless in the greater Dublin area, according to Cardinal and Archbishop of Dublin Desmond Connell.

Cardinal Connell added that most social problems have not diminished in recent years, despite Ireland’s increasing prosperity.

Speaking at the launch of the Crosscare agency’s annual report, Cardinal Connell said hunger and homelessness are growing problems in the greater Dublin area.

He said 900 children, 300 teenagers and 160 pensioners are now homeless in the greater Dublin area.
