The Taoiseach has attacked on Sinn Fein's argument for a No vote to the Nice Treaty on the basis of neutrality.

Speaking at the launch of Fianna Fail's campaign for a Yes vote, Mr Ahern said Sinn Fein's attachment to demilitarisation is a recent conversion, given the IRA's war with Britain up until a few years ago.

He said that the IRA should now show its commitment to neutrality by decommissioning.

Questioned about today's poll results showing Fianna Fail remains the most popular party at 39%, Mr Ahern said he believes the majority of the public has decided on who to vote for in the next election.

He said the 'undecided' figure of 6% is very low. However, he insisted that any election would not take place until next year.
