SIPTU members have lifted their threat of disruption to DART services in Dublin after agreeing to operate new, longer trains being introduced by Iarnrod Eireann.

SIPTU members have lifted their threat of disruption to DART services in Dublin after agreeing to operate new, longer trains being introduced by Iarnrod Eireann.

DART drivers were threatening to boycott the testing of the new trains after the Labour Court rejected their claim for extra pay in return for operating the vehicles.

However, they decided last night to engage in testing and training, despite voting to reject the Labour Court ruling.

The move means the new eight-carriage trains should be operational by next month.
