Bus Eireann says it is helping gardaí with their inquiries into a fatal crash involving one of the company’s vehicles in Co Meath this morning.

A 37-year-old man died when the jeep he was driving collided with the bus at a roundabout on the N4 near Enfield just after 6.30am.

There were no passengers on board the Bus Eireann bus, but the driver suffered minor injuries.

A woman in her 30s who was a passenger in the jeep was also hurt in the crash.

Bus Eireann has released a statement saying the vehicle was out of service at the time of the crash and had undergone a routine independent assessment less than two weeks ago.

The company has launched an investigation into the accident and has extended its sympathies to the family of the dead man.
