The Teachers Union of Ireland has reacted angrily to the Government's decision to allocate 51,000 additional training places to FÁS.
Tanaiste and Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan made the announcement earlier today.
The TUI says some of those places should be given to VECs and Institutes of Technology because the education sector offers a more holistic approach to retraining people who lose their jobs.
TUI president Don Ryan says the Government's move lacks initiative and imagination.
