Almost two thirds of voters support the Taoiseach's offer of use of Irish airports to the United States in the wake of the atrocities at the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

Almost two thirds of voters support the Taoiseach's offer of use of Irish airports to the United States in the wake of the atrocities at the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

The figure is confirmed by two separate opinion polls published this morning.

Surveys in today's Sunday Independent and Irish News of the World show the public are in favour of Bertie Ahern's offer to US President George W Bush.
