Son found guilty of manslaughter of father
A Dublin man accused of murdering both his parents has been found not guilty of murdering his father but guilty of his manslaughter.
John Francis Dolan of Ravensdale Road, East Wall in Dublin, is still awaiting a verdict on charges of murdering his mother.
The Central Criminal Court jury of five men and six women spent more than six hours in deliberation today.
They were sent out yesterday afternoon by Mr Justice Paul Carney to consider a verdict, but failed to reach agreement after four hours.
The jury arrived back in court this morning at 11am and delivered the first verdict.
Deliberations will resume after lunch. 27-year old Dolan was on trial for stabbing his 56-year old mother Gertrude and his 71-year old father John.
Earlier, the court heard that Dolan had told Gardai under questioning that he killed his mother because she was always drunk but that he regretted killing his father.
