Former UDA 'brigadier' Johnny Adair is due to go on trial in Britain today accused of harassment.

The 41-year-old, with an address in the Horwich area of Greater Manchester, has denied harassing two men outside a laundrette in Bolton in August.

His co-accused, William Woods, is also charged with harassing the men, as well as assault.

Adair was expelled from the UDA in late 2002 following a vicious internal feud that split the organisation.

He was imprisoned over his involvement in that feud and his family and supporters were subsequently expelled from their Belfast homes by the UDA leadership.

Adair joined them in Bolton when he was freed from prison in January of this year.
