David Ginola is set to be hit with a FA misconduct charge after his bust-up with a fourth official - and a total ban of six matches which will sideline him until the middle of January.
The Aston Villa star is in hot water after his touchline confrontation with Clive Wilkes after he had been sent off during the Premiership encounter with Leicester.
Referee Steve Bennett confirmed after the match that he had sent an additional report to the FA over the incident by the dug-out and is understood to have taken a hardline stance.
The only comment from an FA spokesman was "we are still considering the referee's report".
But it is likely that the former Newcastle and Tottenham player will be formally charged on Tuesday and, if found guilty, will face a two or three-match ban.
That will be added to the automatic three-game suspension for the red card brandished by Bennett after Ginola had reacted by kicking his studs into Dennis Wise's chest while on the ground after being fouled from behind.
It means he is unlikely to be back in action before the home game with Derby on January 12 and will miss the matches with Ipswich (home), Derby (away), Liverpool (home), Tottenham (home), Sunderland (away) and the third round of the FA Cup.
Gregory has already confirmed that he will be fining Ginola for being sent off and described his actions as "futile and unnecessary".
