The man accused of the murder of Irish student, Nicola Furlong, in Japan has admitted to having both his hands around her neck on the night she died.

Nineteen-year-old Richard Hinds was being cross-examined by the prosecution in Tokyo this morning.

Also today Nicola's mother and sister have been giving impact statements to the court.

Angela Furlong has asked the judge to take account of the pain her death has caused the family and to take account of the fact that, if guilty, the accused has not taken responsibility for what he did.
