A new report to be published today shows the negative effect which decisions made by workers in civil and public administrative services can sometimes have on vulnerable children.

A new report to be published today shows the negative effect which decisions made by workers in civil and public administrative services can sometimes have on vulnerable children.

This study by the Children's Ombudsman Emily Logan focuses on 10 key investigations undertaken by her office.

The cases include children in foster care, those in local housing and young people with intellectual disabilities.

It recommends that public bodies should design polices and practice that promote fair treatment for children and families.

Ms Logan said: "This report provides supporting evidence of the need for public sector reform…I want to ensure that in any kind of debate on public sector reform, that they must pay attention to how children and families are treated."
