Joe Kernan is set to take charge of the Armagh senior footballers again next year, after being re-appointed by the county board.

Kernan is believed to have stayed on at the request of team captain Kieran McGeeney. It's thought McGeeney would have hung up his boots if the former Crossmaglen manager retired.

Kernan led Armagh to two Ulster championships and guided the Orchard County to its first ever All-Ireland title in 2002. However, Fermanagh shocked them in the quarter-finals this year.

Kernan's management team of selector Paul Grimley and trainer John McCloskey will also stay on.
