One man lost his fight for life following a crash on the M50 on Thursday morning.

The car he was driving, a blue Audi, and a truck were in collision on the northbound section of the motorway at 9.50am

The driver was brought to Beaumont Hospital where he was treated for the last three days, but died this evening.

Gardaí at Santry have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

An elderly woman also lost her fight for life after being knocked down more than a week ago.

The 68-year-old had been crossing Stafford Street, Nenagh, Co Tipperary on December 8 when she was struck by a car.

She was initially treated in Nenagh General Hospital and later transferred to Cork Regional Hospital where she died today.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.

Elsewhere, a motorcyclist died after being knocked off his bike at Glenbrack, Gort, Co Galway at 3.40pm today.

The 50-year-old man was involved in a collision with a car and died at the scene.
