SuperValu has announced today that it will add 400 new jobs this year.

SuperValu has announced today that it will add 400 new jobs this year.

The supermarket has announced the opening of two new stores and the extension of another 34 in an investment programme worth in excess of €25m.

The new stores will be located at Mountmellick, Co. Laois and Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim.

SuperValu’s Managing Director, Martin Kelleher, said at the national conference in Killarney that the company had recorded €2.1bn in sales in 2010 and revealed that their market share grew from 19.9% at the end of 2010 to 20.2%.

Martin Kelleher, SuperValu Managing Director, said: "The trading environment in 2011 continues to be extremely difficult, but we are confident we can continue to adapt our offer in response to the budget conscious consumer."
