Tragedy narrowly averted in Waterford bus crash

A number of people narrowly escaped serious injury in Waterford this morning after a bus mounted a footpath in the quays area of the city.

A number of people narrowly escaped serious injury in Waterford this morning after a bus mounted a footpath in the quays area of the city.

The number 5 bus mounted the footpath and crashed into a bus stop opposite the Clock Tower while trying to avoid another bus stopped in front of it.

Nobody was seriously injured as those waiting at the stop had already risen to mount the stationary bus.

Gardaí said up to 12 people were taken to hospital following the incident, but the extent of their injuries is still not known.
