Irish people regard politicians as the greatest wafflers, according to a survey on people's attitudes to language and straight-talking.
Sixty-four per cent of respondents to the survey identified politicians as the worst offenders when it came to talking rubbish, followed by journalists and lawyers.
Elsewhere, Bob Geldof was named as the most straight-talking from a pre-chosen list of candidates, followed by Eamon Dunphy and Roy Keane.
The survey was commissioned by a leading financial institution as part of campaign to promote the use of plain English in the financial sector.
