Workers at a UK Cadbury factory which is set to close will stage a demonstration tomorrow as part of a campaign to save their jobs.

The Unite union said workers at the Keynsham site in Bristol did not accept the company’s decision to shut the site with the loss of 500 jobs.

Regional officer Andy Frampton said there was “widespread anger” among the local community at plans to close the factory, which makes Cadbury chocolate bars including Turkish Delight and Curly Wurly.

The work will move to Poland and to the Cadbury plant at Bournville in Birmingham.

Workers from the Bournville site will join tomorrow’s protest.

Mr Frampton said: “The company must keep production at Keynsham. British chocolate made by British workers for British consumption. This is a profitable and productive plant.”
