It was a positive start to the business week in the Dublin market today as the ISEQ climbed 22.71 to 6,263.38.
Financial shares were a little mixed.
Allied Irish Bank shares climbed 17c to €17.15 today. AIB group chief executive Michael Buckley is to step down from his post in four weeks time, he announced today.
Meanwhile Bank of Ireland shares slipped 5c to €12.42 today. This was despite the bank announcing mortgage applications up 25% on last year.
Among other financials Anglo Irish Bank shares climbed 10c to €9.70 while Irish Life & Permanent shares slipped 5c to €13.60.
Elsewhere shares in Elan continued their recovery thanks to the company's optimism for the future of Tsyabri. Shares in Elan climbed a further 22c today to €6.42.
Among the heaviest fallers today were Unidare. Shares in the company fell 16c to €3.29.
The most traded shares today were AIB, Bank of Ireland, Ryanair, CRH and IAWS.
