Joe Biden's June visit cost the State €25,000

The Government spent more than €25,000 on the visit of US Vice President Joe Biden earlier this year.

A further €33,000 was spent on the visits of the Prince of Wales, French President Francois Hollande and European Council President Donald Tusk.

Figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs show €10,000 was spent on airport fees for US Vice President Joe Biden's visit here in June. A further €12,500 was spent on his transport costs.

The figure is slightly less than the €12,800 transport bill for Prince Charles and his wife Camilla during their one-day visit to Donegal in May.

The visit of the royals also incurred a €1,400 photography bill, with more than €1,000 spent on catering.

Documents released under the Freedom of Information Act show more than €12,000 was spent on French President Francois Hollande's official visit to Dublin in the wake of the Brexit vote.

The State incurred fees of almost €3,000 for European Council President Donald Tusk's visit to speak with Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

The figures do not include the amount spent on security operations or garda overtime.
