Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was found with head injuries in Sligo town.

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was found with head injuries in Sligo town.

The middle aged man was discovered lying on the pedestrian bridge over the Garravouge River.

He was brought to Sligo General hospital with head injuries but has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for treatment.

His condition is being described as stable and the Garravouge Bridge area has been sealed off while Gardaí carry out an investigation.
