There are just 10 seats to be filled in the 29th Dail.

156 of the 166 TDs destined for Leinster House have already been elected.

The last of the counts and recounts are underway to decide the last hand full of seats.

As it stands, Fianna Fail has equalled its showing of 1997, with 77 seats and will certainly pick up a few more.

Bertie Ahern will be the next Taoiseach and it seems he wants to be joined by the Progressive Democrats who have five seats.

Fine Gael is in serious trouble with just 30 seats, and a leadership challenge to face.

Labour on 19 seats will be disappointed that it did not improve its showing.

But Sinn Fein, the Greens and Independents will be delighted with their increased representation.
