New Government figures show farm incomes rose by 5.8% during the past year, despite difficulties such as the foot-and-mouth crisis.

New Government figures show farm incomes rose by 5.8% during the past year, despite difficulties such as the foot-and-mouth crisis.

Aggregate farm income was up to €2,451m.

Figures are not available for the average income per person at this stage, however, the Minister for Agriculture Joe Walsh says his department estimates a rise of 16%.

He says the increase in Irish farm income was more than double the EU average.
