PSNI discover 'significant' hide of ammunition

The PSNI has said it has discovered the most significant hide of ammunition in recent years.

Three barrels were found hidden in the woods near Larne after members of the public reported suspicious objects on Saturday - leading to a two day search operation.

An armour piercing rocket, anti-personnel mines, pipe bombs alongside several other explosives and ammunition were all uncovered.

Detectives have said a number of the devices were ready to be deployed - and dissident republicans are most likely to blame.

It is still not known if it is linked to a similar terrorist haul discovered at Canfunnock Country park in March.
