There is mounting speculation that the man found dead in a suitcase in Dublin's Royal Canal was from Romania or another part of Eastern Europe.

There is mounting speculation that the man found dead in a suitcase in Dublin's Royal Canal was from Romania or another part of Eastern Europe.

Gardai are now looking into the suggestion that the man was the victim of a gang feud that involved foreign criminals.

His identity remains a mystery despite the release of a description and no one has come forward to report the man missing.

The Gardai's failure to establish who the man is has raised speculation that the man may have been linked to a foreign crime gang.

It has been confirmed that he died as a result of repeated blows to the head and there are signs that he may have been subjected to torture.

Reports also suggest that obtaining a set of finger prints from the body, believed to be in its thirties, is proving difficult.
