Everton striker Duncan Ferguson is doubtful for the crucial Barclays Premiership clash against Wigan at Goodison Park tomorrow.

Ferguson has been struggling with a back injury and only returned to training this morning when he had a short session – and with James Beattie and James Vaughan injured, manager David Moyes will be hoping Ferguson recovers in time.

Defender Matteo Ferrari could retain his place in the team at the expense of Nuno Valente.

Provisional squad: Martyn, Hibbert, Yobo, Weir, Valente, Ferrari, Osman, Cahill, Neville, Arteta, McFadden, Bent, Ferguson, Davies, Kilbane, Wright, Hughes, Li Tie.
