With the local press catching them in a loving embrace, two Giant Pandas mated for the first time in two years in Thailand amid expectations that the pair could produce an offspring in the coming months.

Pandas Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui started their mating dance on Sunday, according to officials at the Chiang Mai Zoo, with a mock wrestling bout.

From there, the pair began sniffing one another yesterday and mated later in the day.

“The pandas are very happy. For the last two days, they have made love together,” said Rossukhon Chuicomwong, head of public relations at Chiang Mai Zoo.

“We are so happy because maybe we’ll have a baby panda soon.”
