Explosives have been found during the search for missing teenager Ciara Breen.

She was 17 when she disappaeared from her Dundalk home in 1997.

The Army sent 61 soldiers to help in the latest search for Miss Breen at Balmers Bog today.

During their search this evening they came across historical components for a bomb, and a controlled explosion was carried out.

The Defence Forces say the items appeared to have been there for some time.

The scene has been declared safe.
