Britain’s Robbie Kerr put himself in a strong position to climb into the top three of the A1 World Championship with the best qualifying display in Indonesia.
Kerr took pole position for tomorrow’s first race, the sprint, at the Sentul circuit with an aggregate time of two minutes 34.257 seconds as drivers battled against the difficult conditions.
Heavy rain made it tough for the drivers but Kerr edged out France’s Nicolas Lapierre whose aggregate time was 2-34.477.
Mexico’s Salvador Duran and Switzerland’s Neel Jani will be on the second row and Ireland’s Ralph Firman will be on row four after being seventh quickest.
But pre-series title favourite Christian Fittipaldi was only 21st quickest in the Team Brazil car.
That leaves the way open for fourth-placed Team GB to challenge Brazil for third in the series standings, with second-placed Switzerland also looking to close the gap on championship leaders France.
