The Irish Nurses Organisation has expressed continuing anger at the ongoing problem of overcrowding in hospital Accident and Emergency departments.

The union's executive is due to meet tomorrow to discuss possible industrial action to highlight the problem.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, INO general secretary Liam Doran said nurses were likely to engage in a series of lunchtime protests.

He said the 10-point plan laid out by the Minister for Health, Mary Harney, to alleviate A&E overcrowding had some potential but it was being frustrated by local bureaucracy in individual hospitals.
