Boss: McFadden and O'Malley are future of Irish rugby
Leinster scrum half Isaac Boss believes the foundations for Ireland's next generation of players is already in place with the likes of Fergus McFadden and Eoin O’Malley poised to take on more responsibility at international level.
With Ireland and Leinster star Brian O’Driscoll entering a six month spell on the sideline the search for an adequate replacement at both provincial and international level is underway.
Leinster are bidding to be become only the second team to win back to back Heineken Cups and Boss knows that O’Driscoll’s leadership will be missed but believes those who are fit to play need to grasp their opportunity.
“We're lucky enough to have some quality midfield players to come in and it's probably the future of Irish rugby with Ferg (Fergus) McFadden and (Eoin) O'Malley and other guys. They are ready to take their chance," said New Zealand-born Boss.
"It's the nature of rugby, someone gets injured and someone else gets their chance and they are ready to take their chance.”
"Obviously everyone is very disappointed [for Brian]. There are a number of injuries in the squad and you'd feel sorry for them.
“As a team it's probably selfish to say we'll miss them because they are the ones who are missing out on being involved in the team and being out there at games.”
