Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe is expected to meet secondary teachers later today ahead of a Dáil debate this week on spending cuts in his department.
Teaching unions have strongly criticised the Government's plans to reduce teacher numbers and increase class sizes as part of Budget cutbacks.
Thousands of third-level students also took to the streets last week to protest against a €600 increase in annual registration fees.
Tomorrow, the teaching unions and parent organisations are planning a similar march to coincide with a Dáil debate on Labour’s motion to have the education cuts reversed.
