Gervais enjoying the healthier side of life

British Ricky Gervais didn’t eat vegetables until he was 48.

The ‘Office’ star, now 49, admits he used to live on junk food and refused to eat his greens as he thought they were “boring”, even though his fussy palate would annoy his partner Jane Fallon.

He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “After Christmas 2009 I got my act together a little bit. I work out every day now and I eat my vegetables. I didn’t eat vegetables at all until about 18 months ago and it used to annoy people.

“Jane would give me a soup or stew and I would devour everything that was meat or gravy. But I’m learning to alter my tastes and I’m liking the experience. I thought vegetables were boring.”

Last year, the British funnyman decided to lose weight because he feared his excess pounds could eventually have an effect on his health.

He explained: "I don't want to blow it. I don't want to go, 'Oh f**k! You idiot. So now, everything's great. And you're going to die at the age of 51 of a heart attack, you fat idiot.' "
