Over fifty arrests following garda drug clampdown

Over 50 people have been arrested and cannabis worth €3.5m seized in garda raids across 15 counties.

Over 50 people have been arrested and cannabis worth €3.5m seized in garda raids across 15 counties.

So far 236 searches have been carried out as part of the second phase of Operation Wireless, which is targetting organised crime.

Five cannabis growhouses have also been uncovered, as well as around 4,200 cannabis plants.

The people detained are being held on suspicion of offences including drug trafficking, robbery, aggravated burglary, Possession of Firearms, Burglary, Theft, and Handling Stolen Property.

They are being held at Garda stations across the country, while a Polish national was arrested during the operation on foot of an outstanding European Arrest Warrant for a serious assault in Poland.
