Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys as the bank holiday weekend comes to an end.
The high number of festivals and concerts around the country has seen a surge in the numbers on the roads, especially along main routes.
The AA, the Road Safety Authority and the Gardaí are appealing to motorists to adjust their speeds to suit the wintry conditions.
