The Government is reportedly planning a multi-million euro package of measures to boost the safety of school buses.

Reports this morning said the practice of three children sharing a seat would be abolished for secondary school pupils from September.

The reports also said a time-table had been drawn up for the introduction of seat-belts on all school buses.

Both measures had been demanded following the bus crash that killed five teenage schoolgirls in Co Meath earlier this year.
