Disruption on the cards at Dublin Airport

SIPTU workers this afternoon decided to carry out a series of stoppages at Dublin Airport in just under two weeks time.

Four hundred security staff voted for industrial action in a row over the hiring of new part-time workers.

SIPTU Branch Secretary Dermot O'Loughlin said there was still a slight hope that the issue could be resolved through talks.

"Those set stoppages are scheduled for the week commencing Monday October 24 - I cannot specifically say what they will be at this particular juncture other than to say that they have been scheduled," he said.

"We have been told by the Dublin Airport Authority’s human resource director that he is going to take personal responsibility for these issues in dispute so that does give us a glimmer of hope for a positive resolution before then."
