Both Peter Barry and Richie Power have overcome injury to slot into the Kilkenny line-up for Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Limerick.

Team captain Barry has shaken off a groin strain to take his place at centre-back and allayed manager Brian Cody's fears of a central defensive crisis with full-back Noel Hickey already sidelined.

Power, who has recovered from the shoulder injury he received in the opening minutes of last week's Leinster Under-21 final against Dublin, starts at right corner forward after Cody confirmed his team last night.

The Carrickshock attacker will be joined up front by the legendary DJ Carey, a substitute last time out in the Leinster final win over Wexford, and Henry Shefflin, the 2002 Hurler of the year.

Carey is one of three changes from the side that saw off Wexford by three points on the Cats' last visit to Croke Park.

The Young Irelands forward is a direct replacement for Conor Phelan at full-forward, while two-time All-star Michael Kavanagh and noted Under-21 John Tennyson come in as corner back and full-back replacements for sidelined duo Jackie Tyrell (hamstring) and Hickey (viral infection).

KILKENNY (SHC v Limerick): J McGarry; M Kavanagh, J Tennyson, J Ryall; R Mullally, P Barry (capt), JJ Delaney; D Lyng, B Barry; M Comerford, E Larkin, T Walsh; R Power, DJ Carey, H Shefflin.
