The Taoiseach is heading on a one-day visit to Portugal later today.

The Taoiseach is heading on a one-day visit to Portugal later today.

Bertie Ahern will meet with the Portuguese Prime Minister, Jose Manuel Barroso, in Lisbon for discussions on areas of mutual interest such as fishing, as well as the EU's response to the crisis in Iraq.

The trip is part of a series of visits to EU member states of the accession countries ahead of Ireland's Presidency of the EU next year.
