Brian McGuigan made his long-awaited return from injury as Tyrone outfought Laois for the NFL Division One points at Healy Park.

The former All-Star, who has bounced back from a series of career-threatening injuries, came on as a second-half substitute as the Red Hands ended their two-match losing streak.

The hosts were 0-5 to 0-0 to the good after 17 minutes, with Owen Mulligan and Davy Harte on song, but three MJ Tierney frees had Laois trailing by 0-8 to 0-5 at half-time.

The midlanders got back on terms, most notably when Tierney landed his seventh point for 0-14 apiece, but late overs from Colm McCullagh and Harte saw Tyrone triumph.
