Mitterand's son to leave prison
The eldest son of late French President Francois Mitterrand has changed his mind and will pay a hefty bail to leave a Paris prison after three weeks behind bars for his suspected role in an arms trafficking deal.
Jean-Christophe Mitterrand has decided to pay a bail of £480,000, his lawyer Jean-Pierre Versini-Campinchi said.
Mitterrand is under investigation for his alleged role in a money-laundering scheme around the alleged illicit weapons sales from the former Soviet Union to Angola in the 1990s. He has denied the allegations.
