Unemployed people who take up temporary work over the Christmas period will have their jobseekers payments restored as soon as the work ends.
The Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton today reassured jobseekers that payments will be reinstated without delay.
Anyone getting jobseekers benefit or jobseekers allowance, can take up temporary positions for up to eight weeks, without affecting their welfare entitlements.
Those on the Live Register who receive an offer of temporary employement, are asked to contact their local social welfare office, and again when employment finishes.
Minister Burton has also urged any employers who need temporary staff to contact her department, where staff will try to match jobs with jobseekers.
