The Minister for Education has said he remains against school league tables that are based on academic achievement.

Noel Dempsey was speaking at an education conference held by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Dublin.

The Minister has said new ways must be found to inform parents about what is happening in schools and not just from the point of view of exam results.
