Doctors have warned teenagers against taking part in the 'cinnamon challenge'.

Medics are concerned the game – which sees people attempt to swallow a tablespoon of cinnamon without consuming any water – is dangerous for youngsters, particularly those who suffer from asthma or for people with respiratory problems.

Dr Steven Lipshultz, from the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine, said: "This is absolutely not a laughing matter."

The concerns come after several videos of people coughing and spluttering while trying the challenge – which has been attempted by a number of stars including Kim Kardashian – were uploaded onto YouTube.
