Seven construction workers were killed when a lift fell 14 storeys at a building site in north-eastern China.

Seven construction workers were killed when a lift fell 14 storeys at a building site in north-eastern China.

The accident occurred on Sunday at a construction site for a grain and oil trading centre in Mudanjiang, a city in Heilongjiang province near China’s border with Russia, the Xinhua News Agency said.

An eighth worker in the lift survived and was taken to hospital with serious injuries, Xinhua said.

It said the cause of the accident was under investigation.
