ISEQ back in the black

The ISEQ index of shares began its recovery from yesterday's heavy losses as it crept back into the black today, adding 13.93 points to close at 6487.73.

The ISEQ index of shares began its recovery from yesterday's heavy losses as it crept back into the black today, adding 13.93 points to close at 6487.73.

The financials, for the most part, were among today's winners. Irish Life & Permanent bounced back with a 28c gain to close at €14.33, AIB was up 19c to €16.84, while Anglo Irish was up 18c to €11.23. Bank of Ireland continued to slide, however, losing 10c to €12.45.

Pharmaceutical giant Elan was back up to the €7 mark today having added 30c.

Jurys Doyle, however, was down 39c to €18.50.

Anglo Irish, Eircom, CRH, Bank of Ireland and Ryanair were today's most traded stocks.
