Well, it’s the start of winter and you know what that means - there's some cold weather on the way.
But the good news is that although the nights will touch freezing temperatures and the days won’t be warm by any means, we’re set to avoid those bitterly cold temperatures - for this week at least.
Starting off with today, we can expect temperatures as high as 11C – although it will feel nippier than that in the freshening north-westerly winds. There’ll be some rain too, becoming pretty widespread by 6pm.
Mostly cloudy with rain/driz in W & NW, moving Ewards. Staying mainly dry in SE until late aft. NW becoming drier this eve. Highs 8 to 11.

But tomorrow you can put that umbrella away until Friday morning, as according to Met Éireann, there’s going to pretty much all blue skies until a band of rain starts making its way towards us then.
Of course, clear skies means relatively warm days and very chilly nights. According to Metrogroup, we can expect daytime highs of 10 or 11C.
Thursday’s low of 6C the coldest it’s going to get, not bad at all for this time of year.
[comment]Accuweather concurs – just look at all those sunny graphics for the week ahead in Cork and Dublin.[/comment]
Those de-icers and hot water bottles should be coming out though, as temperatures will be regularly dropping to freezing or below overnight, with Thursday morning looking particularly nippy.
Get that Christmas shopping done this week if you can folks – the temperatures really only have one way to go from here, and doesn’t look good for the week after this one.
