Cork offers inspiration for gardeners throughout the week

All roads lead to Cork for a host of inspiring gardening events this week.

An acclaimed documentary that reveals how one of the world's most revolutionary landscape designers upends our conventional notions of nature, public space and beauty, will be screened in Nano Nagle Place, Cork, next Saturday, June 29, 2pm-5pm, admission free (www.eventbrite.ie)

Directed by Thomas Piper, Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf takes us to Piet’s own gardens at Hummelo, and on visits to his signature public works in New York, Chicago, and the Netherlands, as well as to the far-flung locations that inspire his genius, including desert wildflowers in West Texas and post-industrial forests in Pennsylvania.

Piet is responsible for the New York's High Line and many more iconic urban spaces. More than just a film for gardeners, Five Seasons changes the way all of us think about and ultimately see natural beauty itself.

After the film there will be a short presentation on the creating of the gardens at Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery in Somerset, UK by Adam Hunt, Urquhart & Hunt Landscapes, followed by a discussion about the implications of a more naturalistic planting approach in public spaces and gardens.

This FREE event is supported by Dartmouth Films & Nano Nagle Place To guarantee a seat, registering is advised but walk-in places should also be available.
