The Irish Hospice Foundation is asking the Irish public to drink a million cups of coffee today.
The charity is trying to raise €2m for hospice services nationwide, through its annual coffee morning.
Last year, 150,000 cups of coffee were consumed, generating €300,000 for the cause.
Mo Flynn, CEO of Our Lady's Hospice and Care Services in Harold's Cross, Dublin, said: "What we try to do also is look after you as well, not just the person who is terminally ill, but also to look after the families, and try and understand the pain you are going through, and how we can actually help you, both at the time that you are with your loved one, but also of course afterwards."
