The Minister for Education has insisted that the Government will provide education for autistic people beyond the age of 18.
This is despite the Supreme Court ruling in the Jamie Sinnott case, which decided that the Government’s constitutional obligation to provide primary education ends at 18.
In the face of criticism from the opposition, Minister Michael Woods claimed that the Government took the case to clarify the separation of powers between court and State.
